Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad has shared the government’s success of combating human trafficking with working journalists in labour migration sector.
The EWOE minister on Thursday sent letter to the journalists and thanked them for playing important role in curbing human trafficking in Bangladesh.
Imran Ahmad sought cooperation of the mass media to restrict human trafficking through providing objective information to help achieve the ultimate target of the government.
In his letter to the Migration News, the EWOE Minister recognized the contribution of mass media beside other government agencies to achieve the upgraded status of the country in the latest global Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report.
The United States Secretary of State has released the 2020 global TIP report on June 25 upgrading Bangladesh's ranking from Tier 2 Watch List to Tier 2.
‘Though Bangladesh has made one-step progress in combating human trafficking but there are some impediments existing in this area,’ he said.
Imran Ahmad expressed his ministry’s commitment to work with all other stakeholders to remove the impediments.
